“Can’t Stop”
Can’t stop, addicted to the shindig
Chop Top, he says I’m gonna win big
Choose not a life of imitation
Distant cousin to the reservation
Defunkt the pistol that you pay for
This punk, the feeling that you stay for
In time, I want to be your best friend
East Side love is living on the West End
Knocked out, but boy, you better come to
Don’t die, you know, the truth is some do
Go write your message on the pavement
Burn so bright, I wonder what the wave meant
White heat is screaming in the jungle
Complete the motion if you stumble
Go ask the dust for any answers
Come back strong with 50 belly dancers
The world I love, the tears I drop
To be part of the wave, can’t stop
Ever wonder if it’s all for you?
The world I love, the trains I hop
To be part of the wave, can’t stop
Come and tell me when it’s time to
Sweetheart is bleeding in the snow cone
So smart, she’s leading me to ozone
Music the great communicator
Use two sticks to make it in the nature
I’ll get you into penetration
The gender of a generation
The birth of every other nation
Worth your weight, the gold of meditation
This chapter’s going to be a close one
Smoke rings, I know you’re going to blow one
All on a spaceship, persevering
Use my hands for everything but steering
Can’t stop the spirits when they need you
Mop tops are happy when they feed you
J. Butterfly is in the treetop
Birds that blow the meaning into bebop
The world I love, the tears I drop
To be part of the wave, can’t stop
Ever wonder if it’s all for you?
The world I love, the trains I hop
To be part of the wave, can’t stop
Come and tell me when it’s time to
Wait a minute, I’m passing out, win or lose
Just like you
Far more shocking than anything I ever knew
How about you?
Ten more reasons why I need somebody new
Just like you
Far more shocking than anything I ever knew
Right on cue
Can’t stop, addicted to the shindig
Chop Top, he says I’m gonna win big
Choose not a life of imitation
Distant cousin to the reservation
Defunkt the pistol that you pay for
This punk, the feeling that you stay for
In time, I want to be your best friend
East Side love is living on the West End
Knocked out, but boy, you better come to
Don’t die, you know, the truth is some do
Go write your message on the pavement
Burn so bright, I wonder what the wave meant
Kick-start the golden generator
Sweet talk but don’t intimidate her
Can’t stop the gods from engineering
Feel no need for any interfering
Your image in the dictionary
This life is more than ordinary
Can I get two, maybe even three of these?
Come from space to teach you of the Pleiades
Can’t stop the spirits when they need you
This life is more than just a read-through
About Red Hot Chilli Pepper
There were a number of American rock bands in the 1980s, including Red Hot Chili Peppers, a band known for combining funk and punk rock to create a new musical style. Aside from Anthony Kiedis, who was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan, in 1962, Flea (original name Michael Balzary; born October 16, 1962, in Melbourne, Australia) is the bassist in the band. It was led by guitarist Hillel Slovak, who was born on April 13, 1962, in Haifa, Israel, and died on June 25, 1988, in Los Angeles, California, U.S., and drummer Jack Irons, who was born on July 18, 1962, Los Angeles, California, U.S. It was later joined by guitarist and singer John Frusciante (born March 5, 1970, Queens, New York, United States) and drummer Chad Smith (born October 25, 1962, St. Paul, Minnesota, United
The Band Life
A group of friends known as Tony Flow and the Miraculously Majestic Masters of Mayhem emerged out of the Los Angeles punk music scene in the late 1970s, heavily influenced by the Los Angeles punk music scene. During the early 1980s, while performing along Los Angeles’ Sunset Strip, the group wore nothing but strategically placed tube socks, and as a stage gimmick, their tube socks became their trademark. As of 1983, the Red Hot Chili Peppers enjoyed a loyal underground following and had a recording contract with EMI. In 1987, The Uplift Mofo Party Plan was their first album to reach the Billboard 200 chart. In the midst of their commercial success, the band suffered the death of Slovak due to a heroin overdose, and Irons quit the group, which left Kiedis and Flea to re-form with Frusciante and Smith. The album Mother’s Milk, released by the group in 1989, became a surprise success. A gold album was released by early 1990, followed by Blood Sugar Sex Magik (1991), which included the band’s first top ten single, “Under the Bridge,” and the Grammy Award-winning “Give It Away.”
In the midst of many lineup changes, Red Hot Chili Peppers continued to release well-received albums, among them Californication (1999), By the Way (2002), and Stadium Arcadium (2006), which was nominated for a Grammy. In early 2008, the band went on hiatus, and it was announced the following year that Frusciante was leaving the group in order to pursue a solo career. During the Stadium Arcadium tour, Josh Klinghoffer replaced him at the lead guitar position, and he had previously been a member of the group. It was in 2011 that the band returned to the studio after taking a break from various side projects and released I’m with You. In preparation for the band’s 11th studio album, The Getaway (2016), the band exchanged longtime producer Rick Rubin for Danger Mouse (Brian Burton). The Red Hot Chili Peppers were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2012, marking the band’s 20th anniversary.
