Feels like we’re on the edge right now
I wish that I could say I’m proud
I’m sorry that I let you down
I let you down
All these voices in my head get loud
I wish that I could shut them out
I’m sorry that I let you down
Let you down
Yeah, I guess I’m a disappointment
Doing everything I can
I don’t wanna make you disappointed
It’s annoying
I just wanna make you feel like everything I ever did
Was never tryna make an issue for you
But I guess the more you thought about everything
You were never even wrong in the first place, right?
Yeah, I’ma just ignore you, walking towards you
With my head down, lookin’ at the ground, I’m embarrassed for you
Paranoia, what did I do wrong this time? That’s parents for you
Very loyal? Shoulda had my back but you put a knife in it
My hands are full, what else should I carry for you?
I cared for you, but
Feels like we’re on the edge right now
I wish that I could say I’m proud
I’m sorry that I let you down
Let you down
All these voices in my head get loud
I wish that I could shut them out
I’m sorry that I let you down
Let you down
Yeah, you don’t wanna make this work
You just wanna make this worse
Want me to listen to you
But you don’t ever hear my words
You don’t wanna know my hurt, yet
Let me guess
You want an apology, probably
How can we keep going at a rate like this?
We can’t, so I guess I’ma have to leave
Please don’t come after me
I just wanna be alone right now, I don’t really wanna think at all
Go ahead, just drink it off
Both know you’re gonna call tomorrow like nothing’s wrong
Ain’t that what you always do?
I feel like every time I talk to you
You’re in an awful mood
What else can I offer you?
There’s nothing left right now, I gave it all to you
Feels like we’re on the edge right now
I wish that I could say I’m proud
I’m sorry that I let you down
Let you down
All these voices in my head get loud
I wish that I could shut them out
I’m sorry that I let you down
Let you down
Yeah, don’t talk down to me
That’s not gonna work now
Packed all my clothes and I moved out
I don’t even wanna go to your house
Everytime I sit on that couch I feel like you lecture me
Eventually, I bet that we could have made this work
And probably woulda figured things out
But I guess I’m a letdown
But it’s cool, I checked out
Oh, you wanna be friends now?
Okay, let’s put my fake face on and pretend now
Sit around and talk about the good times
That didn’t even happen
I mean, why are you laughing?
Must have missed that joke let me see if I can find a reaction
No, but at least you’re happy
Feels like we’re on the edge right now
I wish that I could say I’m proud
I’m sorry that I let you down
Oh, I let you down
All these voices in my head get loud
And I wish that I could shut them out
I’m sorry that I let you down
Oh, let you down
Yeah, I’m sorry
I’m so sorry now
Yeah, I’m sorry
That I let you down
About NF
With his 2017 album Perception, rapper and composer NF launched himself into the upper reaches of the charts with raw emotions and honest lyrics. After his first album, Mansion, reached number one on the Christian charts in 2015, and his follow-up, Therapy Session, reached number one in 2016, NF gained larger attention. Those successes paved the way for his breakthrough in 2017. Billboard 200 chart leader Perception was buoyed by “Let You Down,” a Top 20 hit. It was followed in 2021 by the mixtape Clouds, NF’s second chart-topper on the Billboard 200.
During his childhood in Gladwin, Michigan, Feuerstein experienced a number of hardships, including his parents’ divorce, his mother’s boyfriend abusing him physically, and his mother’s death. His escape was music, which he recorded on a karaoke machine, with instrumentals on one microphone and raps on the other. Moments was Feuerstein’s first independent album released in 2010. A recording deal was soon signed with Xist Music in 2012, at which point NF had taken the stage name. That same year, NF and Xist parted ways because an EP they planned to release never materialized.
In the following two years, NF searched for a label and worked with local producer Tommee Profitt in his studio to release their first song, “Wake Up.” As a result of the song, Manny Marroquin remixed “Wake Up” for his self-titled EP late in 2014, which reached number 62 on the Billboard 200 and topped the Christian chart. His debut album, Mansion, was released in early 2015. As a follow-up to Therapy Session, the album reached almost the top ten on both the Rap and Christian charts in 2016.
Perception, NF’s third album, was released later that October, and debuted at number one on Billboard 200 with the singles “Outro” and “Green Lights.” Perception’s biggest hit, however, was its third single, a radio staple known as “Let You Down.” It topped the Hot 100 as well as the Christian Songs chart.
NF released “The Search,” the first single from 2019’s The Search, the following July, while the song still maintained radio airplay – and additional album single “Lie” was certified platinum. In addition to “Only,” he released the non-album track “Chasing_(Demo),” featuring Mikayla Sippel, his second consecutive chart-topper. Clouds, which featured the title track and “Paid My Dues,” was released along with the song in 2021.
