A tu lado creció nuestra ilusión

A ciegas
Nos entregamos, aunque muchos se opusieran
Disimulamos nuestro amor

A tu lado creció nuestra ilusión

A ciegas
Nos entregamos, aunque muchos se opusieran
Disimulamos nuestro amor

A tu lado creció nuestra ilusión

A ciegas
Nos entregamos, aunque muchos se opusieran
Disimulamos nuestro amor
Nos inventamos en cada rincón nuestra canción

About Monsieur Periné

One of Bogota’s most innovative ensembles, Monsieur Periné combines arts, fashion, and music from gypsy jazz to pop to Latin traditions. At the 2015 Latin Grammy Awards, the group was chosen as Best New Artist in recognition of their 2012 debut album, which earned gold status. In 2018, Catalina Garca and her band performed the third album of the group, Encanto Tropical, which blended elements of the contemporary Latinx scene with traditional bolero torch songs, jazzy tangos, and romantic ballads that evoked a romantic feel.

With early member Camilo Parra, Garca (vocals), Santiago Prieto Sarabia (guitar, violin, charango) and Nicolás Junca (guitar) formed the core trio in 2008. As they found their voice, they started playing Latin and jazz covers and then started writing original material using Spanish, French, English, and Portuguese accents, as well as their many influences. Assisted by fashion designer Alejandra Rivas Ramirez, Monsieur Periné created a stylish, dramatic video for the debut single, “La Muerte,” which they recorded with veteran Colombian producer Felipe Alvarez. Hecho a Mano, the band’s debut album, included the song. Independently released, the album earned gold status and two Shock Awards for its critical and commercial success.

The Second album by Monsieur Periné, Caja de Music, was released in 2015 and was a break through for the band, winning them a Latin Grammy Award for Best New Artist and a Grammy nomination for best Latin rock, urban, or alternative album. Rubén Albarrán, of Café Tacuba, and Vicente Garca were among the guest performers that made appearances on the show. Having made the switch from Virgin Records to Sony Records in 2014, the band returned to the scene in 2018 with their vibrant album, Encanto Tropical. It was last year when Maréh and I collaborated on a song called “Mi Destino,” which was released as a collaborative effort.
