Starting Over Lyrics – Chris Stapleton

Starting Over – Well the road rolls out like a welcome mat
To a better place than the one we’re at
And I ain’t got no kinda plan
But I’ve had all of this town I can stand
And I got friends out on the coast
We can jump in the water and see what floats
We’ve been saving for a rainy day
Let’s beat the storm and be on our way

And it don’t matter to me
Wherever we are is where I wanna be
And honey, for once in our life
Let’s take our chances and roll the dice
And I can be your lucky penny
You can be my four leaf clover
Starting over

This might not be an easy time
There’s rivers to cross and hills to climb
And some days we might fall apart
And some nights might feel cold and dark
But nobody wins afraid of losing
And the hard roads are the ones worth choosing
Some day we’ll look back and smile
And know it was worth every mile

And it don’t matter to me
Wherever we are is where I wanna be
And honey, for once in our life
Let’s take our chances and roll the dice
And I can be your lucky penny
You can be my four leaf clover
Starting over
Starting over

And it don’t matter to me
Wherever we are is where I wanna be
And honey, for once in our life
Let’s take our chances and roll the dice
And I can be your lucky penny
You can be my four-leaf clover
Starting over
Starting over

Ooh
Ooh

About Chris Stapleton

A troubadour turned major star in the autumn of 2015 on the strength of his debut album, Traveller, Chris Stapleton came out of nowhere to become one of those storybook overnight sensations: a troubadour who came out of nowhere to become one of the biggest stars in country music. It would be wrong to say that Stapleton didn’t have an easy road behind him, as most overnight sensations do. In addition to leading the progressive bluegrass band The SteelDrivers and working as a professional songwriter for years in Nashville, he had been working behind the scenes for quite some time, scoring hits with George Strait (“Love’s Gonna Make It Alright”), Kenny Chesney (“Never Wanted Nothing More”), Luke Bryan (“Drink a Beer”), and Darius Rucker (“Come Back Song”). He has a long list of country music tracks to his credit, including vocals for Brad Paisley, Luke Bryan, Dierks Bentley, Tim McGraw, Country Music Association of America, and Adele, who included “If It Hadn’t Been for Love” as a bonus track for her 2011 platinum-selling album 21.

Career and success

Throughout the fall of 2015, he won three major awards at the Country Music Association Awards, including Best Male Vocalist, Album of the Year, and New Artist of the Year, which signaled the songwriter had built up a deep reservoir of goodwill in the industry. This goodwill rose to the surface in the fall of 2015 when he won three major awards. From a Room: Vol. 2 has become a cult album in Stapleton’s music career. Following his Grammy win for “Best Country Album”, he has gained a lot of visibility. 1. A number of awards signaled his popularity within the industry, but it was his soulful blend of throwback country, classic rock, and soul that made him so popular and influential in late 2010 when he released the breakout hit “Nobody to Blame” in 2015 and the chart-topper “Broken Halos” in 2017. During the course of the late 2010s, mainstream country music was moved in a rootsier direction in the latter half of the decade. As for the following decade, Tracey Stapleton released his fourth album, Starting Over, in addition to contributing to a Metallica tribute album.

A long time has passed since Stapleton’s success. In 2001, he moved to Nashville to try to make it in country music after growing up in Lexington and Staffordsville. The next step he took was signing a publishing contract with Sea Gayle Music, which enabled him to start working steadily, writing songs, paying bills through various jobs, and playing music for as long as he could. During the next two years, he formed a bluegrass group known as the SteelDrivers, which gained a great deal of acclaim throughout the bluegrass scene. Having won the Emerging Artist of the Year award in 2009, and receiving three Grammy nominations for the best bluegrass album for Reckless, the group was honored in 2010 with a nomination for Best Bluegrass Album by the International Bluegrass Music Association. The group succeeded despite Stapleton’s departure from the group in April 2010 as well as the addition of guitarist Greg McKee, bassist J.T. Cure and drummer Brad McNamee to the group in May 2010. Stapleton signed with Mercury Nashville at the beginning of 2013, and the following October, he released his first single (“What Are You Listening To?”), which was a Southern rock ballad. After the single failed to make any kind of impact, the accompanying album was also scrapped, and he recorded a new record with co-producer Dave Cobb instead. His solo debut album, Traveller, was the result of this album, which was released as a debut solo album.
